We the undersigned, call on the Government of Japan to honour its obligations under international law, and to respect both the IWC Moratorium on commercial whaling and the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary by ending all whale hunting and permanently retiring its whaling fleet.
It is time for Japan to demonstrate its status as a responsible international citizen by ending its commercial whaling operation - the killing of whales and sale of whalemeat - along with its attempts to disguise such an operation as scientific research.
Don’t forget to read Echoes in the Blue – a marine biologist’s account of what whaling is really all about – which also includes an automatic donation to save the whales for every book sold!
